【あらすじ】

川越城下の長屋育ち・長助、まさかの「助さん募集（身分・経験不問）」に合格して“七代目助さん”に。お供は、印籠係に徹する合理主義の“格さん”と、どこかズレた威光を放つ“ご家老”松平則近。三人組の世直し珍道中は、道中茶店での人助けから、毒舌と物忘れが交錯する騒動まで、笑いの種に事欠かない。

やがて一行が辿り着いたのは、中山道の整備で人馬と金の負担を強いられ、名主と百姓が対立し始めた村。印籠の威光が通じない“民の怒り”を前に、長助は「お上の正義」と「暮らしの現実」のあいだで奮闘する。口先の権威でも刀でもなく、茶一杯とまっすぐな言葉が、こじれた心をほどいていくのか――。

“ご老公気取り”のご家老、“給金至上主義”の格さん、“町人上がり”の助さん。三者三様の世直しが、皮肉と笑い、そして小さな恋の気配を連れて、今日も街道をゆく。

In the castle town of Kawagoe, a tenement kid named Nagasuke stumbles into an open call—“Now hiring Suke-san, no rank or experience required!”—and somehow becomes the seventh Suke-san. His road-mates: a hyper-rational “Kaku-san” who insists his sole duty is flashing the inrō (crest case), and the delightfully off-kilter Lord Steward, Matsudaira Norichika, who’s taken to playing Mito Kōmon on a DIY justice tour. From a teahouse scuffle and tart tongues to muddled memories, mishaps pile up fast—and comically.

Their path leads to a village on the Nakasendō where relay levies of horses, men, and money have pushed farmers to the brink and set them against the headman. When the inrō’s aura won’t calm a crowd, Nagasuke finds himself caught between “official justice” and the grind of everyday life. Not rank nor steel, but a shared cup of tea and plain, steady words may be what unknots hardened hearts.

A “pretend Kōmon” lord, a wage-watching Kaku-san, and a town-born Suke-san—three clashing styles of righting wrongs, bringing irony, laughter, and a flutter of romance as they amble down the highway.
