【あらすじ】

大坂の灰問屋「河内屋」。奉公一筋の老女中・アットン（お初）は、何十年もこの家を支え、三兄弟を母代わりに育て上げてきた。ところが今、店を仕切る長男・一郎と女将・お高は、理由も告げぬままアットンに暇を出そうとする。

そこへ紀州から三男・三郎が帰って来る。追い出される“母”を前に黙っていられない三郎は、病で伏す親旦那・伊平まで巻き込み、河内屋の空気をひっくり返す大芝居を思いつく。

ところがその作戦、笑えるほど無茶で、店中てんやわんや。借金、意地、世間体、そして積もり積もった「甘え」が、次々あぶり出されていく。

大笑いの騒動の果てに残るのは——生みの親より深い“育ての親”への感謝と、照れくさいほど温かな家族の再出発。

Osaka, at the ash-merchant house Kawachiya. The elderly maid Atton (O-Hatsu) has served this family for decades—raising three brothers like a mother and holding the household together. Yet now the shop is run by the eldest son, Ichirō, and his sharp-tongued wife Otaka, and they decide—without explanation—to dismiss Atton.

Just then the youngest brother, Saburō, returns from Kishu. He can’t stay silent while the woman who raised them is pushed out, so he drags even the ailing patriarch Ihei into a wildly reckless “plan” to flip the whole house upside down.

The scheme is so outrageous it turns the shop into total chaos—laugh-out-loud confusion, clashing pride, money trouble, and the family’s comfortable selfishness all bubbling to the surface. And when the dust finally settles, what remains is not victory but something warmer: gratitude for the one who truly raised them, and a family starting over—awkward, noisy, and unexpectedly tender.
