【あらすじ】

江戸時代、どこかの峠。

目明かし・佐吉は島抜けの銀次を追っていた。

境を越えれば管轄が変わる——焦る佐吉の前に現れた一人の男。

問答の末、正体は銀次と知れる。

だが銀次がこぼしたのは、女房と幼い娘に会いたい一心で逃れたという、五年前からの悔恨だった。

職と情のはざまで、佐吉はわずかな猶予を与える。

再会の場に流れていたのは、変わりゆく暮らしと、名乗れぬ父心。

交わされた短い言葉、置き忘れた小さな品、そして思いもよらぬささやかな情け。

やがて舞台は再び峠へ。降り出す雨。

別れを濡らさぬよう、静かに差し出される一本の傘——。

法と情、親と子のあいだに降る雨が、最後にやわらかな余白を残す。

Edo period, at a mountain pass. The town constable Sakichi is on the trail of Ginji, an escaped convict.

If the fugitive crosses the pass, jurisdiction will change—and years of work will be lost. A lone traveler appears; after a wary exchange, he is revealed to be Ginji. Yet what spills from him is not bravado but five years of remorse, and a desperate wish to see his wife and young daughter once more. Torn between duty and compassion, Sakichi grants a brief reprieve.

At the place of reunion drift changed lives and a father’s heart that cannot speak its name: a few spare words, a small item left behind, and an unexpected kindness.

The stage returns to the pass. Rain begins.

So the parting will not be soaked, a single umbrella is quietly offered—

and the rain that falls between law and mercy, parent and child, leaves a soft, lingering hush.
