Don’t drive them away. Don’t cast them aside.
Some things weigh more than a shop’s noren.
At a mountain teahouse pass, a mother and daughter live quietly by their own hands. One day, the master and young heir of the wealthy Echigoya shop pass through. The young heir falls for the daughter at first sight, and the master forces a marriage arrangement through—using money and status, without hearing the mother’s side.
On the wedding day, Echigoya suddenly turns cold and tries to break the match and drive the mother and daughter away. Summoned to settle the matter, the head clerk Kisuke—raised and employed by Echigoya—steps forward. Even at the risk of losing everything, he confronts his master with a single conviction: people cannot be measured by appearances or convenience.
Love and commerce, obligation and compassion—what this flower at the pass truly tests is the “heart” of Echigoya itself.
