【あらすじ】

身延山久遠寺へ続く街道沿いの小さな茶店。親を亡くした娘は、一人で店を守りながら、店の脇に祀られた「出会い地蔵」に日々手を合わせていた。

そこへ現れた旅の渡世人・小金井小次郎。そして、信州小諸から杖を頼りに歩いてきた目の見えぬ母親。母は、十五の年に家を飛び出し、渡世人となった倅・宇之吉にもう一度会いたい一心で、身延山を目指していた。

母の願いを聞いた娘は、出会い地蔵にそっと祈る。どうか、あの母親を息子に会わせてあげてください——。

一方その頃、茶店には借金の取り立てに来た悪党・ほくろの仁兵衛たちが押しかける。娘が連れ去られそうになったその時、通りかかった若い渡世人が助けに入る。だがその男は、思わず名の通った親分・小金井小次郎の名を騙ってしまう。

嘘から始まった騒動は、やがて本物の小金井小次郎を巻き込み、母の願いと倅の運命を一つの場所へ引き寄せていく。

会いたいと願う心は、道を越え、人を越え、時を越えて届くのか。

出会い地蔵が結ぶ、母と子、そして人の情けの物語。

Along the road leading to Minobusan Kuonji Temple stands a small teahouse. The young woman who runs it lost both her parents, and now protects the shop alone. Each day, she prays before the “Deai Jizō”—the Jizō of encounters—enshrined beside the teahouse.

One day, a traveling gambler named Koganei Kojirō appears. Soon after comes a blind mother, who has walked all the way from Komoro in Shinshu with only her cane to guide her. She is searching for her son, Unokichi, who left home at the age of fifteen to become a gambler. With one desperate wish—to hear her son’s voice once more—she has come toward Minobusan.

Hearing the mother’s story, the teahouse girl quietly prays to the Deai Jizō: Please, let this mother meet her son.

Meanwhile, a gang led by Hokuro no Jinbei storms into the teahouse to collect a debt. Just as the girl is about to be dragged away, a young gambler passing by steps in to save her. But in the heat of the moment, he falsely claims to be the famous boss Koganei Kojirō.

What begins as a lie soon draws in the real Koganei Kojirō, pulling a mother’s prayer and her son’s fate toward the same place.

Can the heart’s longing to meet someone cross roads, people, and time itself?

This is a story of a mother and child, and of human compassion, bound together by the Deai Jizō.
