【あらすじ】

大坂のとある田舎町。

今日は村の夏祭り。次郎は愛と2人で夏祭りを楽しんでいた。

次郎はしがない左官屋だが、近頃、親方からもその腕を認められ、そろそろ身を固めてもいいころだとお墨付きを貰う。

次郎も、昔から愛と一緒になりたいと考えていて、いつ愛に告白しようかと考えていた。

愛も愛で、次郎からの言葉を密かに期待していた。

祭りを楽しんでいた2人だったが、次郎は近所の者たちから、愛と一緒にいることをとがめられる。

村のものが言うにはどうやら愛は最近縁談の話が決まったとのこと。

その相手は大阪でも有名な呉服問屋「花乃屋」の若旦那・太郎。

愛はその話はお米のおばちゃんが勝手に進めている話でもちろん断るというが・・・。

In a small rural town near Osaka.

Today is the village’s summer festival.Jiro and Ai were enjoying the festivities together.

Jiro was a humble plasterer, but lately even his master had begun to recognize his skill, telling him that the time had come for him to settle down.

Jiro, too, had long wished to spend his life with Ai, and had been wondering when he should finally confess his feelings to her.

Ai, for her part, had secretly been hoping to hear those words from Jiro.

As the two enjoyed the festival, Jiro was suddenly reproached by some of the villagers for being with Ai.

According to them, it seemed that a marriage proposal for Ai had recently been arranged.

Her prospective match was Taro, the young heir of Hananoya, a kimono wholesaler well known throughout Osaka.

Ai insisted that it was merely something that old Okome had been pushing forward on her own, and that she would of course refuse it, but…
