【あらすじ】

雪深い村の冬。

祭り支度の花笠音頭が響くお熊の家に、噂がひとつ—家を飛び出した娘・お園が赤子を連れて戻ったらしい。そこへ、働き者の目明し・新吉。さらに二十年ぶりに名乗り出た老爺・善兵衛——「新吉の生みの親」だという。

雪は強まり、村では揉め事と騒動が相次ぐ。許すか、突き放すか。育ての情と血の縁、過去の悔いと明日の暮らしが、ひとつ屋根の下でぶつかり合う。五色沼の知らせが夜更けを裂いたとき、家族はそれぞれの“帰る場所”を選び直す。雪の夜が試すのは、名ではなく、結び直せる心の温度。。

In a snowbound village winter, preparations for the festival echo with the Hanagasa dance at Okuma’s house, and a rumor drifts in—her runaway daughter, Osono, has returned with an infant. Then comes Shinkichi, a diligent constable; and at last an old man, Zenbei, who claims to be Shinkichi’s birth father, appearing after twenty years.

The snow deepens as quarrels and commotion ripple through the village. To forgive or to cast out? Under one roof, the bond of upbringing clashes with the pull of blood, yesterday’s remorse with tomorrow’s livelihood. When urgent news from Goshikinuma splits the night, each member of the family must choose where—and to whom—they truly belong. On this snowy night, it is not names but the warmth that can be tied anew that is put to the test.
