【あらすじ】

伊豆大島。椿の花が咲き、実がなり、油を搾って暮らす茂三の家。娘・お百合は「父を楽にしてやりたい」と江戸へ渡り、島には幼なじみの時造が残って椿の世話と茂三の面倒を引き受ける。便りの途絶えた三年、時造は縁談を迫られても揺るがず、ただ帰りを信じて待ち続けていた。

そんな折、島に“銀平”と名乗る流れ者が現れる。手配書が回り、目明しの親分が動き出す中、茂三と時造の暮らしにも影が落ちる。銀平が抱えるのは、江戸で生き抜くために選んだ道と、身に覚えのない疑い——そして、誰にも言えない秘密。

十手が迫る土壇場で、時造は許嫁として前に立ち、真実を聞いてくれと訴える。椿の実が静かに油へ変わるように、積み重ねた想いが、隠された素顔を照らし出す人情劇。

On Izu Ōshima, where camellias bloom, fruit, and are pressed into oil, Mosan lives by the steady rhythm of the seasons. His daughter, Oyuri, leaves for Edo with a child’s vow: to ease her father’s burden. Left behind, Tokizō—her childhood friend and betrothed—takes on the care of Mosan and the camellia trees, waiting with unwavering faith through three years without a single letter.

Then a wanderer arrives on the island calling himself “Ginpei.” A wanted notice circulates, and a local constable boss begins to move—casting a shadow over Mosan’s quiet life and Tokizō’s patience. “Ginpei” carries a harsh Edo-born secret: the choices made to survive, a suspicion he cannot shake, and a truth he cannot speak.

As a jitte closes in, Tokizō steps forward as Oyuri’s betrothed and pleads for one thing before judgment falls: listen to the story. Like camellia fruit slowly turning into oil, the feelings that have been quietly stored up begin to illuminate what has been hidden—until a true face emerges from behind the name.
