【あらすじ】

大阪。乾物屋「瀬戸屋」の若旦那・柳吉は、遊び好きのボンボン。うどん屋で出会った曽根崎新地の芸者・蝶子（本名・春江）に、強引なくせに不思議とまっすぐな恋をぶつける。

世間体と家の看板、親の反対、金の苦労――「一緒になる」だけでは終わらない現実の前で、二人は何度もぶつかり、それでも歩みを止めない。甘い善哉と塩昆布のように、噛み合わぬはずの二人が“夫婦”になっていく、人情と商いの物語。

Osaka. Ryūkichi, the young master of the dried-goods shop Setoya, is a spoiled, pleasure-loving rich boy. At a udon stand he meets Chōko—her real name Harue—a geisha from Sonezaki Shinchi, and hurls at her a love that’s pushy, yet somehow disarmingly straight.

Reputation and the family sign, parental opposition, the hard truth of money—reality doesn’t end with “being together.” Again and again they clash, and yet they refuse to stop walking forward. Like sweet zenzai paired with salty kombu, two people who shouldn’t fit begin to “click” as husband and wife—an Edo/Osaka tale of human feeling and livelihood, where love becomes a business, and a business becomes a home.
